Trying out a new mechanical keyboard for the first time in a while.
It's a Logitech K840, which is basically the serious (but less expensive) version of their G910, and uses Logitech's tactile Romer-G switches. (And I just learned that they now have a linear Romer-G switch).
Looks-wise, its a nice take on the switches-out-of-the-metal-slab type keyboard, with the standard 104 key layout. The caps seem to have the typical budget decal lettering, but the labels are a nice modern-looking san-serif font (All in lower case, of course).
At around $80, it's not the cheapest mechanical board (some of the boards with cherry-like switches can be about the same price as your typical rubber dome, now), but it does seem to be a fairly good value, especially considering the novelty of the switches used.
I think I like how the Romer-G switches feel compared, to say, Cherry MX browns, although they don't feel quite as refined. I'd almost say the switches feel like Cherry MX blues, but without the clickiness.
And this whole post was really just an excuse to use the new keyboard.
